ECTS Credits, Certificates and Certifications

Each session is equivalent to 3 ECTS credits, divided as follows:
- Language-culture classes: 2 ECTS credits
- Workshops: 1 ECTS credits
To obtain ECTS credits, students must meet all academic requirements communicated to them.

N.B. Only the Educational Committee for Prior Learning Recognition of your college is entitled to recognize the E.C.T.S. you gained at the U.I.E.N. for the purposes of your degree.

At the end of the session, students will be issued a certificate stating their level of language proficiency as well as the number of classes attended. The levels correspond to those defined by the Council of Europe:
A1: Breakthrough                       B1: Threshold     C1: Effective Operational Efficiency
A2: Waystage                             B2: Vantage         C2: Mastery

TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français)
At the end of each session, students may take the Test de connaissance du français (TCF) at an extra cost from 80 to 130 euros, depending on the options selected.
The TCF is a language test recognized by the French Ministry of Education and is valid for two years.

CLES (Certificat de Compétences en Langues de l'Enseignement Supérieur) for English.
The CLES is a certificate issued by the Higher Education Ministry and is in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.  This test evaluates the communicative language competences of the student.

The CLES is given for three levels: B1, B2 and C1. The UIEN allows passage of CLES 2 validates the B2 level in English.

Cost: 30 euros for UNS students, 50 euros for non-UNS students.
